A Very, Very, Very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic!

I hope it'll be a good day!

I'd offer to write something but with the way work is, I wouldn't get to it before next year, so...
kribu: (Sügislehed)
Have had a relatively busy Saturday morning - had coffee, cleaned up the kitchen a bit, scrubbed the walls where the cats sleep (and sneeze), and picked out a handful of pics from last Sunday's walk at Pirita, mainly in the convent ruins.

So here's the picspam before I have to start working.

Cut for the pics. )

Right, time to work... mum seems to want to go out today too as it's lovely and sunny, so I ought to get at least a few dozen lines done before that.
kribu: (Põnn2)
First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] annietalbot! I hope it's been a great day so far!

Second, I just managed to fall asleep on the bus home and missed my stop by two stops. Grrrr. It's very embarrassing to suddenly wake up, wonder "what the hell is this stop doing here?", scramble up from your seat and rush out. At least it woke me up properly.

I blame work for dedding me too much. Apparently we're well behind schedule with the big project (which I couldn't work on for a month as I had other work, so they had to make do without me), so we've all been ... encouraged ... to work harder.

And Pätsu has for a week now been opening the kitchen cupboard where various spice and seasoning stuff is kept every night and throwing stuff out. This morning, she had put chicken seasoning on plums. And spread laurel on the floor. She's never done this before but it appears it's her new hobby, now.
kribu: (kiisud)
Still cold. Am on my third cup of tea within the last few hours. Contemplating sofa and blanket and kitty and book, but all that takes effort.

Managed to go out to town yesterday towards the evening but wasn't really in the mood for a walk. Dragged the big camera with me and ended up not even taking it out of the bag once. Spent some three hours shopping, instead... didn't find shoes in spite of trying on a few dozen pairs in at least five stores (mum got a pair though) but did get two new jumpers and two pairs of darker/thicker trousers for the autumn/winter. Columbia menswear once again - so they're a bit loose around the middle and loose around the thighs, but when one spends the days sitting at a desk, loose is considerably preferable to too tight.

And I'm more or less done with the exchange stuff. I think. Still need a title, among other things...
kribu: (Kribu haigutab)
I should stop whining about it, really, but it's cold and getting colder. Forecast for the next ten days is 7-11°C, with rain a lot of the time. 7°C now and raining quite heavily ... don't want to go out to work. *weeps* And still no heating either at work or at home. Even the cats prefer to be curled up on a blanket with each other instead of warming me.

Where did the summer go, anyway? Not that we had much of one this year - one beach weather day (and not a very warm one at that) and that was it.

Attempted rather half-hearted shoe shopping yesterday but not with any luck - tried on three rather nice pairs but all felt a little bit off. A tiny bit, not much, but with shoes in the $150/€100 range, I want instant comfort. Then again, perhaps I should try new shoes when wearing proper shoes to start with, instead of trainers, as no "real" shoe will feel quite as comfy compared to those.

Of course, what I really need is rubber boots and not shoes, considering the weather. Grrrr.

Managed to get past the block in the exchange fic yesterday. With any luck and plot bunnies willing, I might get it done this weekend.
kribu: (bunny Focus on me)
Picked up my shiny new computer yesterday, so today was spent setting it up. Especially as I wasn't in the mood to go out - managed to stub my toe on the sofa yesterday, so it's all bloody and bruised. Not broken though from what I can tell, just hurts a bit if I try to put full weight on it.

Cut for boring computer stuff. )

All this computer stuff (and dust flowing around) has given me a rather nasty headache. And I haven't written a word today (not really worried about it, but still). And I just watched Estonia getting beaten by Belgium in the World Cup qualifiers ... 3:2 doesn't look too bad as the result, I guess, especially for an away game, but Belgium really was so much stronger. Grrr.

Oddly enough I'm almost missing the laptop now. And I hated using it when I had to switch to it last week. *sheds a single tear*
kribu: (Kribu taldrik)
Went ahead and ordered my shiny new desktop computer today. Will, with luck, get done by Friday, but as they don't seem to have the 750 GB Western Digitals drives in stock right now (and I'd really prefer WD - I know no drives are infallible but I have more faith in WD than in others), I'm not quite sure if that will happen.

More computer woes. )

Haven't done any Exchange writing today yet (it's quite sad what a day at work does to the brain) but made some nice progress over the weekend. And it's all saved on the laptop as well as the external hard drive (and I think I should save it to google docs too, to be on the safe side).
kribu: (bunny Focus on me)
Decided that just maybe, trying a new power supply first might be a better idea than getting a whole new computer, especially since I had a spare one somewhere behind the bed linen in a cupboard.

Cut for computer stuff. )

Am feeling a little better today than yesterday (fever again yesterday) - lots of sneezing, but half of that might be due to the dust. And I've finally made a start on the challenging prompt - 1600 words yesterday, and I have a feeling I might actually get somewhere with it.

Right, need to turn off the computer now and reattach the side panels. Musti's already showed interest in the inside of the case, so can't really keep it opened up for long. And then I suspect some general cleaning is in order.
kribu: (Kribu haigutab)
First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] mundungus42!! Hope you're having a great day!

The desktop computer seems to behave, mostly, although Firefox is being stupid and has messed up my friends page completely (seems it can't find the stylesheet or something). Individual LJ pages apart from the friends page and my own posts work fine, but I've had to fire up IE to be able to check LJ properly - everything works there.

The floor is covered with small pieces of cardboard as both Kribu and Musti have been eagerly ripping the box my tablet came in apart while sitting inside. I wish they'd realise that if they demolish it, they won't have a nice box to sleep in - it's large enough that the twins actually managed to share it the other day (although half of Kribu was hanging over the edge).

And I'm sleepy - no idea what made me get up at 8:30 on a Saturday. Possibly the sun, which is a rare thing these days.

Edit note: yet another example of how whining about something in public helps. After posting this, the next refresh of the friends page finally worked (and yes, I had tried it before, several times over an hour). No more IE, yay!
kribu: (Musti pikutab)
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] ubiquirk!!

I hope it's a wonderful day for you!

Cut for other ramblings. )
kribu: (bunny Focus on me)
My left knee hurts. Rather badly. For the third day now. It's hurt before, too, but never to this level - the last three days have been just ... well, it doesn't matter much whether I sit or walk or lie down, it's just hurting. Stairs are especially bad. It's getting a little less, I think, but grrrr.

Sunday was all achy ... the knee, left ankle, lower back, left wrist. Right side to a lesser amount. It was incredibly annoying. The weather, which has been cold and rainy, hasn't really helped.

Work grumbles. )

The work thing makes me rather glad I started on the Exchange last week already, as I really have no idea how much time and energy I'll have left after work. Not for a single word yesterday, anyway.

In better news, I now have a tablet. Only got around to installing it yesterday and giving it a very brief try before putting it away (can't have it lying around when not in use, not with curious kitties around who love to sleep on mousepads!) - it will take some getting used to but I suspect it'll be fun once I get the hang of it. I'd mostly just like to get into drawing a bit again, for myself. And it should be a help eventually with photo editing, too. (Which also means that mum was showing interest. If I get the hang of it at some point and it appears to be useful, I rather fear I'll have to buy a second one...)
kribu: (Kribu haigutab)
First, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] phistolemon_!

Second, my holidays are over and it's back to work today. Grrr. Nasty weather, cold and raining. Don't wanna go out at all, never mind to work... ah well. There'll be holidays again.

Third, HP meme, nicked from pretty much everyone. )

Fourth, I'm not panicking hugely on the Exchange front any more. Have something done - not something absolutely amazing, but it's a start. I hope. Unless it sucks completely and shouldn't be shown to anyone, ever. *wibbles*
kribu: (Kribu haigutab)
Weird weather today - rain/sunshine/rain/sunshine/rain and so on. Am somewhat wet, but also a bit baked.

Still wibbly about the prompts, but have a few semi-coherent ideas. Not very good ideas, but it's a start. *nibbles on [livejournal.com profile] ayerf's arm for moral support*

And nicked this from [livejournal.com profile] keladry_lupin. Definitely something to be tried again.

kribu: (bunny Focus on me)
Am home. Am totally ded. Enjoyed the trip very much. Paris is lovely.

I have a feeling I won't be able to catch up with my f-list completely, so if there's anything I really should know / something important I've missed since Sunday, let me know. I'll try to read back, but it seems things have been busy!

Shall now have to get something to eat.
kribu: (Default)
Last day at work before two weeks off, yay! Have already done about two days' worth of work today, so figured a break is in order... don't really feel like deddening myself completely before the holiday.

And I remembered I never posted the rest of the utterly random pics from July which I'd uploaded weeks ago. Gah. *has been too busy*

Cut for picspam. )

Need to remember to do packing tomorrow - so weird to think that in two days, I'll already be in Paris. I'm really rather looking forward to it! Should probably try and finally figure out at least some sort of plan though - not really detailed but the absolute "must see/visit" stuff.

Have already made sure to charge all camera batteries (erm, taking three cameras for a 4-5 day trip is not overkill, right?) and have plenty of euros exchanged, so at least those things are all taken care of (and I have my tickets, and Chilli called the hotel to make sure everything's fine with the booking). So it's mostly to try and not forget about the whole thing now.
kribu: (Default)
I tried this little test thingy, which is apparently looking at one's browser history and then deciding whether you're likely to be male or female.

Not very surprisingly for me...

Likelihood of you being FEMALE is 39%
Likelihood of you being MALE is 61%

Hmmm.
kribu: (Curiosity)
I can has short hair again! *does a happy little dance*

Managed to finally get myself to a hairdresser today, after a couple of years' break, and have wonderfully light, cool, not suffering inducing hair again. It feels so good. (I'm not entirely sure yet how happy I am with the actual cut, especially at the front, but I doubt I'll ever be entirely pleased with how it looks at the front - there's an annoying twisty sport there right in the middle, which means there is no real way to get it to look all nice and proper, whether short or long.)

And because I remembered, here are some entirely random pics from the last few weeks. )

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne has returned - quite alive and well - from his trip to Russia, so I might not be around quite as much again for the next few weeks. If I'm not reading and commenting, it's not because I don't like you people any more. ;-)
kribu: (Default)
Was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] duniazade. Thank you, and it's very much mutual.
The following ten people (in no particular order) officially make my day. You should each consider yourselves tagged (unless you've already done the meme).

[livejournal.com profile] ayerf
[livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne
[livejournal.com profile] juno_magic
[livejournal.com profile] dickgloucester
[livejournal.com profile] camillo1978
[livejournal.com profile] ozymandiasrex
[livejournal.com profile] septentrion1970
[livejournal.com profile] a_bees_buzz
[livejournal.com profile] ubiquirk
[livejournal.com profile] elen_ancalima

And lots and lots of other people on my f-list ... really, you should all be on this list! *glomps everyone*

Random stuff about my day. )

Also, finally picked up mine and Chilli's plane tickets to Paris. Just over two weeks, yay! Can't wait.
kribu: (Kribu kell)
First, without any spoilers... I can't wait for next week and the Doctor Who season finale. I have managed to stay more or less spoiler-free, so if anyone knows anything specific about next week's episode, I'd rather not know.

But I've really liked this season so far, and for once, I'm hoping that the last episode won't totally disappoint me.

Now that this is off my chest... I'm annoyed. Tried on a couple of pairs of trousers yesterday when shopping, as I'm getting to a point where I soon won't have anything without holes left, and... well, needless to say, it was a yet another pointless waste of time. Tried a pair size 38, which looked like they might fit, but couldn't get them over my hips. Argh. And then a pair labelled XL (apparently size 36 / US size 8 / UK size 10) which fit snugly but a tiny bit too snugly - sadly they didn't have them a size or two bigger (the next one was 42, which would have been overkill). (And just in what sort of world does size 36 equal "extra large" anyway? no, this was not the children's department...)

Maybe I should give up and start wearing skirts, or something. Because obviously someone built like me is not meant to wear women's trousers. *is annoyed*

Finally, there is picspam from the last few days. )
kribu: (Vesiroos)
Have been having a rather eventless holiday weekend so far. Did some work on Saturday and yesterday, should do a bit today too - raining quite heavily, so not much else to do anyway. I am thinking it's better to do a bit of work every day instead of lazing around doing nothing for a few days and then exhausting myself trying to catch up.

Am starting to give up on hope of ever writing something creative again. Perhaps if a period with less work comes around again, but as things stand now, that's not very likely for at least another year. Work's just completely sapped me of any creative thought I might occasionally have had. A pity, but what can one do?

[livejournal.com profile] phistolemon_ tagged me for the "what's in your bag" meme, so here it is. Very boring, I'm afraid, but this gave me a good reason to clean out some of the trash in the bag and to test the new 30mm lens, too.

The contents of my bag. )

Tagging... whoever wants to put the contents of their bag on display.

Went out yesterday - visited grandma's grave at the cemetery and took a short walk at Pirita afterwards, from the river to a supermarket and then home. As I had the small Pentax in my bag, there is also some random picspam.

Picspam. )

It's odd how I don't even remember having the W10 for half a year and then it's summer and lots of light outdoors and I fall in love with that little camera all over again. Of course, the recently announced W60 is even more appealing with its even higher levels of waterproofness and ruggedness and more zoom... argh, must stop desiring more cameras. *slaps self*
