Am incredibly tired. Once again. Still.

At least I got my work done. And was reminded that I had noted down end of March / beginning of April as my first two weeks of holiday this year, and that we're to get the next big batch of work on 18 March, so if I could perhaps be somewhat flexible about the holiday... well, I don't have any plans made, apart from wanting to rest, so I figured I could be flexible.

Thus I somewhat unexpectedly find myself having a week off starting tomorrow. Which is nice, I suppose.

The last week's been quite awful. I've been in pain most of the time - my back's not in a good state at all, and I'm getting seriously fed up with my right leg, which has been sort of achy for a few years now but more insistent in recent months. It's not a strong pain but a more or less constant one, going all the way from the hip to the ankle, but mostly staying in the outer thigh. Most annoying. I suppose I'll need to go see a doctor about it some day, but so far, it's been so... vague, that I've not been sure what to complain about.

I did decide to actually start doing something about this awful state of unfitness and stuff last week though, and am determined to go out for a walk daily. Have done so for six days now. Not long walks, staying out for an hour perhaps, and hardly power-walking, but it's enough to exhaust me quite properly for now - my legs start aching far too quickly and I have zero stamina. But it's bound to start having an effect (preferably a positive one) some day. I hope. And today was pretty nice, climbing around in the fresh falling snow and stuff.

Just finished reading Wishing Well, a Ten & Martha book... not very impressed. Most new Doctor Who books have been good fanfic level, this one seemed weakish. And I spotted several things I'd have pointed out as a beta.
kribu: (Snape not amused)
Well, at least I know now that it wasn't the power supply or the dust causing the random restarts.

New desktop shopping tomorrow, I suppose. Although I'm not sure the timing's the best, what with the start of the school year and all - they're probably going to be busy. Well, won't get it any sooner if I put it off longer.

Bleh. Will need to see if I've forgotten to back up anything I need, although I hope it'll last long enough to let me transfer everything properly.

And I have had a fever for most of the weekend, including right now. I suspect the cold and moist air and no heating aren't helping, as I'm also quite sneezy. I do hope I get better by tomorrow though as I'd rather not work on the laptop (and don't know if I can risk actually doing work on the desktop now).

And I spent half the day scrubbing the kitchen walls high up and part of the ceiling, too, as Pätsu (who likes to sleep on top of a cupboard, right under the ceiling) seems to have scratched her ear bloody in the night ... it's amazing how far and wide blood drops can splatter when a cat shakes her head. It looked like someone had been butchered in the kitchen in the morning. Pätsu seems quite fine now though.
kribu: (bunny Focus on me)
My left knee hurts. Rather badly. For the third day now. It's hurt before, too, but never to this level - the last three days have been just ... well, it doesn't matter much whether I sit or walk or lie down, it's just hurting. Stairs are especially bad. It's getting a little less, I think, but grrrr.

Sunday was all achy ... the knee, left ankle, lower back, left wrist. Right side to a lesser amount. It was incredibly annoying. The weather, which has been cold and rainy, hasn't really helped.

Work grumbles. )

The work thing makes me rather glad I started on the Exchange last week already, as I really have no idea how much time and energy I'll have left after work. Not for a single word yesterday, anyway.

In better news, I now have a tablet. Only got around to installing it yesterday and giving it a very brief try before putting it away (can't have it lying around when not in use, not with curious kitties around who love to sleep on mousepads!) - it will take some getting used to but I suspect it'll be fun once I get the hang of it. I'd mostly just like to get into drawing a bit again, for myself. And it should be a help eventually with photo editing, too. (Which also means that mum was showing interest. If I get the hang of it at some point and it appears to be useful, I rather fear I'll have to buy a second one...)
kribu: (põnntotu)
Eugh. Dentist. At least there was no major stuff done today after all, as the dentist I was going to has apparently decided to switch jobs from next week and is going to work somewhere at Nõmme, which is on the other side of town and thus not good for me. So he didn't want to start anything today that would take several appointments to get done. Which is sensible.

I am thus also spared of the remaining three appointments I had for January, as the new dentist I was handed over is quite busy in January, so I now have three appointments for February instead.

Cut for potentially squicky details. )

Training is starting to have an effect - I'm actually starting to understand the principles. Not that I like them, but anyway. I also had a very hard time keeping my eyes open today.

And then I got home and was instantly occupied.

Occupation the Pätsu way. )

It's hard to type like this!
kribu: (Kribu haigutab)
I think staying at home today was a good idea. Cancelled the dentist appointment and didn't go in to the office either (did get and do some work at home though, so it's not like I was just being lazy). Still having to blow my nose far more often than I'd like, but less often than yesterday, which is a good thing.

Training tomorrow, bleh. And on Wednesday, and Thursday, and Friday. 10 am to 6 pm. *weeps*

Plot bunnies are still absent. Any challenges aren't inspiring me at all either. *kicks random wall*

I think I need more tea. And jellybabies.
kribu: (Kuu)
Still not feeling too great, but nothing like yesterday - nose still blocked (and sore from yesterday, although I put plenty of cream on it last night - which burned like hell, but was worth it) and throat could be a bit less sore, but in general, I'm hopeful it'll have passed by tomorrow.

Speed typing meme. )

Pirate name meme. )

Also got a few more random London pics uploaded, so here they are.

Eight London pics. )

I've actually managed to make a tiny start in catching up with all the reading... although I've only managed to read a few of the shorter exchange fics so far. Should get myself some tea and get on with it.
kribu: (lumemänd)
I have a cold. Had a fever too when I got up but that seems to have gone down, mercifully. Throat still sore although I can at least speak now, unlike when I got up. And I still need to blow my nose every 2 minutes or so. (Where does all that stuff come from, anyway?)

Anyway, here's a bit of random London picspam. I still haven't got around to looking at my photos, but mum has done that and started choosing the prettier ones, so I'm just nicking whatever she's deemed worthy.

Four pics behind the cut. )

I've also finally got around to unpacking a bit and organising the stuff I brought home... got The Prestige DVD as a present from [livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne and [livejournal.com profile] elen_ancalima, which was nice as I'd wanted to buy that anyway. And then I got a special edition of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - [livejournal.com profile] chilliconcarne had been kind enough to edit out everything without the Sheriff in it. I suspect it makes for a much better film that way.

I also got a Harry action figure (hmm, mostly to make sure mum won't get too suspicious of my having only Snape & Hermione figures). It's rather unfair how Harry seems to have no trouble standing up on his own! And his jacket can almost be removed. On the other hand, his wand keeps falling off all the time.

Want tea now.
kribu: (Default)
I seem to have acquired a fever too now in addition to the stuffed nose. Oh well. At least it's not a high fever, just annoying.

So I suppose it's working at home today too.

The worst thing about a stuffed nose is that it makes my eyes runny, which makes the glasses all icky very quickly. And then I can't see, which makes my eyes even more watery.
kribu: (rullukastis)
Have spent yesterday and this morning sneezing. And blowing my nose every few minutes. Ugh. Well, that's something I'll need to deal with for the next six months - I don't even have to have a cold but a stuffed/runny nose, especially in the mornings, is something that comes with this season (the autumn-winter-spring season).

Have been up for over three hours and still not quite awake. Not that I've been doing anything at all, apart from turning all the clocks back an hour. Yay, an extra hour today! On the flip side, this means even less daylight than before (getting light a bit earlier in the morning doesn't really count). Oh well.

I think I figured out last night how Haunted should end. Still want to get to a happy ending - I'm not entirely displeased with the way it's been turning out so far, but I didn't expect all this angst. At least I think there should be some happiness ahead. Plus a possible alternative crack!ending due to an insistent plot bunny gnawing at my legs before I fell asleep.

Got a new box yesterday (with my little Snape), which the cats have been immensely pleased with. They've all taken turns sleeping in it.
kribu: (Musti pikutab)
Musti's actually been a lot better today. Still having some slight balance problems, but overall, she's nearly moving normally again, running around from one room to another, climbing onto chairs and sofas and tables, and not falling over or even stumbling too much when jumping down. And she's been eating happily and attempting to scratch the wallpaper and climbing into my lap.

So with that, and with mum not feeling well today, we decided to hold off seeing the vet and just keeping an eye on her for now. If she gets worse again, it's definitely back to the vet.

I've not been feeling too well myself today - feeling weirdly apathetic and tired, and sort of like I'm having a cold (sore/tired muscles all over, feeling a bit flushed). Staying home was certainly a good idea, even if not for the original reason. I have done some work at least, although probably only half of what I should have. At least it's weekend now, and I have the work at home, so with any luck I'll get another 3000-4000 words done by Monday, and should be back on track then.

I suppose all the worrying about Musti for the last week has left me mentally exhausted.

Bought a Penguin Guide to Punctuation yesterday. I have no idea if it's any good, but it seems to point out both UK and US usage, was cheap, and I have realised recently that I have no idea whatsoever about English punctuation rules/customs (in general, I just happily use Estonian ones). I don't think we really covered punctuation at school. I should try and get at least some basic idea about it if I (a) happen to write something again at some point, (b) am again forced to do Estonian-English translation at work.
kribu: (Lilla lill)
As my cold seems to have passed but bad wrist pains have arrived again, after being blissfully mostly absent for a couple of years, yesterday was a good day for going out for a walk (especially as it wasn't raining, unlike on Saturday and today, although it was rather gloomy and quite overcast).

Yesterday's walk in pictures, part 1. )

Gah. Don't want to go to work, as I'm not looking forward to a day of typing, not with those stabbing pains I'm having now. I shouldn't really be on LJ either, but it's comparatively pointless to avoid typing a few words here and there if I have to torture myself in the office anyway. Perhaps there won't be too much work today.
kribu: (Lilla lill)
The annoying but tolerable sore throat I've been having for the last couple of days seems to have turned into a more proper cold. No fever at least, but might as well be, considering the headache and the overall stuffy and sluggish feeling.

It'd better pass soon, as it seems to have had an effect on my mental faculties too... just spent a while practising with the FA 50mm f/1.7 lens, and had completely forgotten how to use it on my camera. So unless I went into full manual mode and used the AE lock button, the aperture stayed resolutely at f/1.7 no matter what I did. Of course, it was only after I'd got tired of trying and put the camera away, it dawned on me that the camera came with a rather nice manual for a reason. *headdesk* I'd better remember to keep the aperture ring on A and use the Av mode if I want to set the aperture myself.

That's what happens when one has only one older lens and hasn't used it for months.

I did get one reasonably nice pic of Pätsu though while trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Pic behind the cut. )
kribu: (Default)
Sore throat. What did I do to deserve a sore throat? *grumbles* I've even dressed warmly enough every day.

Was hoping it'll pass when I noticed it in the afternoon, but it's just been getting worse. Oh well, trying hot tea + honey now... maybe it'll be gone by tomorrow.

Wrapping a warm kitty around my neck might help but I don't think they'd be too keen on letting me do that.
kribu: (optimist)
Gah. Tired, and the week hasn't even started properly yet.

Doesn't help that I woke up due to an especially bad coughing fit just after 4, and didn't really manage to fall asleep again afterwards, as every time I tried, I got another coughing fit. I suppose being good yesterday and finally getting to clean/sort out the clothes closet and the wardrobe caused too much dust to fly around. I do hate having apparently developed a dust allergy in the last few years... summers are OK (possibly because of being able to keep the window open all the time?), but the rest of the year, getting close to loose dust is... not good.

So I've had about three hours of sleep and half a night of dry hacking cough, and now I have to go to work, which promises to be especially unpleasant this week. *sighs*
kribu: (tardis)
Um, yes.

DW 3x11: Utopia - full of plot holes like good Swiss cheese, but kind of fun nevertheless. )

In other news, I've been feeling quite sucky for the last few days... seem to have caught a slight cold. Weather isn't being helpful either.
kribu: (rullukastis)
...that I'm not in the habit of attending fancy Christmas and/or year-end parties where people might be expected to turn up wearing pretty, revealing, relatively open dresses... as it's been a week since I had ECG done and I'm still left with rather noticeable circular bruises all around my upper body from that. *rolls eyes*

At least I'm back to being reasonably okay health-wise, stuffy nose notwithstanding. Woo!

And I actually relatively enjoyed The Runaway Bride. At last a companion that knew how this particular version of the Doctor should be handled. I so enjoy brutality when it's directed towards Ten, especially if it's not coming from enemies... :-D

And I'm done with re-reading Harry Potter... hmpf. Now the wait for book seven starts properly... in the meantime, I can try to come up with more wonderful theories as to why Snape just cannot be evil. It was really fascinating to try and pick up clues from all the earlier books now, reading them back to back.
kribu: (Default)
So. I seem to be mostly in satisfactory, if not sterling health. Which is good.

Boring health details )

I should do some work now, considering I didn't really get much done in the office in the morning and took some home instead (and just haven't managed to get there yet) but I really feel like reading instead... hmpf. Oh well, maybe an hour or two won't be that bad.
