Eugh. Dentist. At least there was no major stuff done today after all, as the dentist I was going to has apparently decided to switch jobs from next week and is going to work somewhere at Nõmme, which is on the other side of town and thus not good for me. So he didn't want to start anything today that would take several appointments to get done. Which is sensible.
I am thus also spared of the remaining three appointments I had for January, as the new dentist I was handed over is quite busy in January, so I now have three appointments for February instead.
What happened to the days when one didn't need to have a multitude of wooden, metal and plastic wedges and strips of various kinds and thickness (plus metal clamps) hammered between one's teeth just to fill one cavity?
I was suitably numb by that time, but even so - the sheer force that needed to be used for all that was not pleasant, as it nearly led to me falling off the chair from all the vibration and stuff. And having all of those things pulled out afterwards is even worse.
On the positive side, once the numbness wore off hours later, the tooth seems OK and isn't hurting (I was warned it might hurt a bit the next few days, even if I'm lucky and filling it is enough - he seemed a little doubtful and said root canal treatment might still be needed for that one too, grr - can hope not!).
Training is starting to have an effect - I'm actually starting to understand the principles. Not that I like them, but anyway. I also had a very hard time keeping my eyes open today.
And then I got home and was instantly occupied.

It's hard to type like this!

It may be hard to type, but I envy you. My elderly cat is too lazy to interfere with my typing. At least, I think she's elderly. Don't know her exact age, it's something like 14 years old.

Date: 10 January 2008 17:54 (UTC)Pätsu can look amazingly adorable sometimes. When she's not breaking things, peeing on things or attacking the other two. And she still behaves like an unruly teenager cat, although she'll be 8 this year! Not old, no, but surely she should be behaving in a more respectable manner already...
cats and their idiosyncracies
Date: 11 January 2008 02:50 (UTC)One of my husband's friends had a couple of cats for several years. Shear Khah was the eldest and was somewhere around 23 or 24 when she died. She was about 14 or 15 when cat 2, Oreo, joined the family as a 'kitten' about a year or so old at the time. Khah was the matriarch. She beat up Oreo when Oreo misbehaved. She took care of Scott, her owner/pet. She was the queen of the castle. When Khah died, Oreo was 8-10, not sure exactly how old, but Oreo switched immediately from being the rebellious teenager to queen. Shortly before that, Scott and his wife added another cat, Galinthia, who shifted from 'cute kitten' to teenager of the household upon Khah's death.
Is it possible that Patsu is simply being the teenager b/c she knows she's not the 'queen' cat and only a princess in waiting?

Date: 10 January 2008 17:56 (UTC)I often get cats parking themselves between me and the keyboard. Or lying down there and putting their head on my wrist, so I can't get to the keyboard or the mouse!

Date: 10 January 2008 19:14 (UTC)Every dentist I've seen wants to remove my remaining two wisdome teeth, even though they give me no trouble at all. Before you let him do it, make sure he's not being trigger happy.

Date: 10 January 2008 19:30 (UTC)I didn't really even need the dentist to say anything - it looked like a pretty clear case to me as soon as I saw the X-rays. Which was a shock, really! And the dentist then immediately pointed it out. He did say there is no immediate urgency, but that it should be dealt with before it ruins the other teeth.

Date: 10 January 2008 18:57 (UTC)Pätsu is ... really very small. :-D Not just compared to Kribu, who is quite large, but she must be the smallest adult cat I've ever seen. Not that she looks like that on these pictures.
She's currently cuddly though, yes. Usually she just hits me and goes away.
Your icon is very cute. :-D
