Sore throat. What did I do to deserve a sore throat? *grumbles* I've even dressed warmly enough every day.

Was hoping it'll pass when I noticed it in the afternoon, but it's just been getting worse. Oh well, trying hot tea + honey now... maybe it'll be gone by tomorrow.

Wrapping a warm kitty around my neck might help but I don't think they'd be too keen on letting me do that.

Poor you! Hope it leaves you before the blocked up nose develops. My Dad keeps on recommending hot water, honey, lemon and whiskey when I complain of sore throats/colds. The first (and last) time I tried whiskey, it made my throat burn, so I ignore that last part of the recipe.

I'm still waiting for my first cold of the autumn to strike. My last one was in early summer, but another is inevitable with venturing into London three days every week! Too many people sharing their nasty viruses...

Hm. I think I'll ignore the whiskey, yes, but hot water + honey sounds just about right. I don't think we have any lemons at home though, damn.

A blocked nose is something I seem to have chronically by now so I don't even pay much attention to that! I'm just glad the autumn's been fairly okay so far, considering it's been so humid and cool (and the central heating hasn't been turned on yet at home either).

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. I hope you're feeling better very soon. *hugs*

Thanks! Virtual hugs should be safe, hopefully ;-) - it doesn't quite seem to have passed during the night. Doesn't seem to have got any worse either at least.

I hope you feel better soon! Do you happen to have any zinc lozenges?

I laughed about the cat neck warmer - it would be nice, but I doubt either of mine would stay still for long.

Thanks! Zinc lozenges - not that I know of. Come to think of it, I don't think I've even ever seen such things, so that's something new to consider.

Cats are terribly picky about what they are willing to warm for you. My lap doesn't need warming nearly as much and someone is there almost all the time.

You could try gargling soluble aspirin. It's unpleasant, but as aspirin is an anti-inflammatory it's pretty effective on sore throats. Hot toddies are good - with enough honey in, the whisky won't hurt.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the aspirin idea - another thing to remember. It's not too bad today, so I'm trusting it'll pass on its own this time.

Hot toddy - hm, sounds good in theory, but as I don't drink at all, I'm not sure that having a slight cold would be the best reason or time to start. (Never mind that I shudder to think what alcohol would do to someone that's never tried any - I don't think it would take much to start having undesirable effects! :-D)
