It's been an incredibly sleepy Sunday. Raining hard almost all day, grey and bleak.

Watching Doctor Who: The Fires of Pompeii did brighten the day though. Enjoyed it a lot, and spotted a few cute nods to the old series again. Yay!

Went for a walk yesterday, so there's picspam. After a lot of deliberation, decided to do the flowers picspam post today and the rest in a separate post at some point.

Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem, I think.

Hepatica.

Some more hepatica.

Have spent most of the day, on and off, watching a direct webcam feed of Donna the black stork nesting. Mostly she's been just sitting there, but I got to see her get up and rearrange the eggs (three of them, I think) a few times and on one occasion, poop over the edge of the nest. Exciting!

Lovely - thanks!
I think the weird red thingy might be rhubarb.

Thanks!

Really? Would be the weirdest rhubarb I've ever seen, but I really have no idea, so might well be!

First time I saw rhubarb sprouting in the spring, it was just like that - a weird red bulge that unwrapped itself and grew. Go back and look in a week or so and take another photo. I'd be interested to know whether I'm right.

I googled a bit and it certainly looks like you might be absolutely right! I've never seen rhubarb in such an early stage.

Can't promise to go back as it's a bit off from my usual routes, but I am inclined to think it's just what it might be. Was sort of an abandoned old garden area of an abandoned house, so I wouldn't be surprised.
