It's been an incredibly sleepy Sunday. Raining hard almost all day, grey and bleak.

Watching Doctor Who: The Fires of Pompeii did brighten the day though. Enjoyed it a lot, and spotted a few cute nods to the old series again. Yay!

Went for a walk yesterday, so there's picspam. After a lot of deliberation, decided to do the flowers picspam post today and the rest in a separate post at some point.

Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem, I think.

Random... red stuff.

Hepatica.

Scilla.

Crocuses.

Another crocus.

Snowflake.

The inside of a snowflake.

More snowflakes.

Weird red thingy.

Another crocus.

Snowdrops.

Hepatica.

Some more hepatica.

Have spent most of the day, on and off, watching a direct webcam feed of Donna the black stork nesting. Mostly she's been just sitting there, but I got to see her get up and rearrange the eggs (three of them, I think) a few times and on one occasion, poop over the edge of the nest. Exciting!

Lovely weather. Not much better here.

Purtty flowers! I like the first pic of the hepatica best. Nice and purple.

We really just managed to get the walk done yesterday before it turned all horrid - was slightly drizzling already for the last half an hour of the walk, although we started out with a semi-blue sky.

Thanks. It's a difficult colour to get right, somehow.

Oh the pretties!

Dozing Sunday here too, though here it's sunny.

It actually almost felt like real spring here yesterday. :-D

Sunny is nice. I rather hope this greyness won't last too long.

Lovely - thanks!
I think the weird red thingy might be rhubarb.

Thanks!

Really? Would be the weirdest rhubarb I've ever seen, but I really have no idea, so might well be!

First time I saw rhubarb sprouting in the spring, it was just like that - a weird red bulge that unwrapped itself and grew. Go back and look in a week or so and take another photo. I'd be interested to know whether I'm right.

I googled a bit and it certainly looks like you might be absolutely right! I've never seen rhubarb in such an early stage.

Can't promise to go back as it's a bit off from my usual routes, but I am inclined to think it's just what it might be. Was sort of an abandoned old garden area of an abandoned house, so I wouldn't be surprised.

How beautiful. Snowflakes are wonderful - I'm not sure I've ever seen those before.

They're really pretty. We have quite a few but they generally bloom for a rather short time after the snow is gone, and generally are not very abundant.

Still no signs of spring flowers here. Those pics were lovely!

I do hope you get yours soon, too! And thank you.

Beautiful pictures! We get snowflakes here in our yard, but I never knew what they were called.

Would you mind if I used picture #11 (crocus) to make an icon?

Thanks! Glad to have been of educating assistance, too. ;-)

I don't mind at all, go ahead!

Ooh pretty, even the weird red thingy :-)

Weather here was awful too. Good to know it's not just we Brits who suffer the vagaries of spring.

Thanks to Dicky, I'm now fairly sure it's rhubarb. Would never have guessed!

Today is sunny here but very, very, very windy. And at 3°C, not nearly as warm as it looked when I was eyeing the weather out of the window...

Sunny here too thankfully, but supposed to rain hideously later.

Btw, am giving you fair warning that am trawling through all my flist's recent entries, so don't be suprised if I comment on stuff that's over a week old. I've been a bad LJ friend so far, and am trying to make amends now as I am off sick and thus have a bit of spare time.

I don't mind comments, whether on old or new entries! :-D

It's terribly difficult sometimes to stay current with the f-list.
