Birthday & picspam, part 2

First, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] evieeros!

Second, a day late but I finally managed to upload the second batch of pics from the other day's walk... have been lazy today and done about nothing whatsoever. It's nice to just laze around for a bit.

Icy sea. And a duck.

Snowy beach.

Some more ice, being eaten away by the sea.

Snowy rocks.

Insane fisherman on the river and a few seagulls nicely marking the border between ice and water.

Snowy pier.

Willow catkins, to my great surprise. First real sign of spring I've seen yet, and shockingly early.

Winter colours.

The Pirita river.

I seem to have a thing for diagonals. I wonder if it's because I like diagonals, or because I'd like a wider field of view... suspect it's a bit of both.

Pretteh! And very cute catkins. The diagonal with water and sky... that makes me feel rather unsteady for some reason. *wobbles*

*offers a steadying hand*

Lovely again! I want to run around where you live, lol.

Diagonals are wonderful things. And, you're a true photographer because you have a preference! :P

"the elf in my icon agrees"

There's a lot of lovely areas around here! And snow tends to make it all prettier. :-D

Having a preference is good, as long as I don't get stuck to it... must remember to consider other angles too sometimes.

Indeed. I can see that.

Though, if you ever have a group discussion with photographers you can answer haughtily: I am partial to diagonals. They speak to me.

:P

Happy weekend.

LOL! I'll keep that in mind, should I ever need to explain, yes.

Pretty! XD I especially like the duck, in the first one. :-)

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! The ducks were cute... too bad they were all a bit far away this time.

That insane fisherman picture is really, really cool! Without seeing the caption, I at first thought it was rolling reflections. Veeeeeery nifty!

Your beach shots look a lot colder than mine.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see how it would look like that, yes. Especially with the ice quite water-coloured at that end.

I was a bit surprised by how much snow there was there. We've had temperatures steadily a bit above zero during the days for the last week or more, and there's a lot less snow left here by the roads/in trafficky areas.

Beautiful! And I like the little duck in the first one.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I do think the duck adds something to the scene, yes.

[identity profile] sc010f.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely! The catkins are adorable! :D

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! They are, yes. Most willows here are nowhere near that stage yet, but the ones at the beach seem to be an earlier sort.

Beautiful! I especially love the three seagulls and insane fisherman - each of them perfectly at ease in his/its absurdity.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, yes. At least the seagulls could fly away, should the ice give up...

[identity profile] dickgloucester.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Mr D has a think for diagonal photos - you'd get on well.

Lovely pics again.

Did you know that we call that "pussy willow"?

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not entirely sure, in the light of some of your recent posts, that this would be a good thing... ;-)

No, I didn't, but it's not very surprising. I think those furry little things have caused a connection to kittehs in quite a few languages.

Diagonals are more intersting...

The red dogwoods are fabulous

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
They are, most of the time anyway. And I like lines...

I do love that touch of colour they add, especially when it's all white otherwise.
