Right. Instead of sitting and sulking about (a) TPP being down, and (b) not having seen the Doctor Who season premiere yet, here's a batch of pics from today's walk.

The weather was terribly grey and overcast, not a spot of blue sky in sight, mum had the DSLR (I have a feeling that I can't really refer to it as mine much longer), and we're at the time of spring where almost everything is still completely dead. So no wonderful vistas - had to do with close-ups instead, to get something not grey, and besides, it's what the small Fuji does best.

I was shocked to see the first dandelion of this year. We still have snow in places!

Willow catkins.

Moss on a tree.

Some other catkins.

Moss on ground.

Some... metal thingy.

Remnants of last year's rosehips.

Very nice! That dandelion is quite a burst of colour. The moss and lichen almost look like alien lifeforms.

Colour (other than brown and grey) is so hard to find here this time of the year!

The moss was wonderful. I was tempted to take a dozen close-up pics of every tree I saw.

Such fantastic colours in the moss and lichen! I agree with Ayerf - like alien life forms.

Like alien life forms is exactly what I thought, too. I'm completely enamoured with moss & lichen these days - it's amazing how rich and wonderful that world is.

Not much color to be found here either, though I spotted some buds on the lilac bushes. Your moss pics are very nice and bright.

Thanks! This post-winter period does tend to be rather drab, but I'm enjoying spotting all the little signs of nature awaking again.

Those lichens are amazing! I particularly like the shapes in picture 6.

They're absolutely wonderful, aren't they? I think I squeed (mentally anyway) when I came across that particular tree. It was a whole other world.

Beautiful!

I love the metal thingy . . .

Thank you!

It was an interestingly shaped metal thingy. I have no idea what it was!

Those lichens are amazing! And I can't get over the fact you found a dandelion already!

I know! I had to do a double take when I saw the dandelion, and my first thought was "whoah, this can't be left over from last summer, surely?" - must be the earliest I've seen one!

Thank you! They're quite amazing. I've always loved looking at the stuff that grows on trees - the variety of life there is wonderful.

Is the weather colder in Estonia as well?

It's been hovering between around +2...+8°C the last few days, but the wind seems to have changed - it feels colder again. And it's been completely overcast for a few days.

They'd be such a good design source for embroidery with all those rich textures.

Yes, indeed! A pity I am hopeless with all such matters.
