PhotoPoint has got the Pentax K20D in stock. Damn them! It's soooooo very tempting... a good thing, probably, that the 15,000 kr / 1000 € for the body is a little bit less tempting. *hopes either for a price reduction in the not too far future or for the temptation to pass*

Still, 'tis a thing of beauty... *sighs and tries to remember she still "needs" a macro lens and possibly the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens and possibly an external flash before even thinking about a new body*

Back at work since yesterday. Still coughing, but it seems to be mostly limited to the evening - had just one bad coughing fit at work, right before leaving. Feeling remarkably fine otherwise, I think the rest did me good. Besides, we finally have some snow again - snow and daylight! It was still light when I got home yesterday, around 6 pm. Wonderful. And at -1°C (and with practically no wind) it was really pleasant.

I'm so glad you're feeling better. Now, just keep your back and chest warm until that cough goes away. (Here's where you say, "Yes, Matron!")

Sounds like lovely weather. It's very windy here today. I don't like very windy weather.

Thanks. Am keeping warm!

Er. Yes, Matron. :-D

It's windier here too today than it looked (and considerably windier than yesterday) but still not too bad. And very pretty! All this lovely new fresh snow.

I did snap a couple of pics on my way to work but I have no idea how well they came out... plus there isn't much prettiness between the bus stop and the office. We'll see in the evening though!

Damn, even with the scary price tag, that really is a thing of beauty. Meep. 14+ mmp...

Glad you're feeling better. Hopefully the cough is getting the message that it needs to scram. Are you taking any icky coughing syrup or leaving it to its own devices?

Also, ~points up~ what Dicky said (minus the Matron bit; I'll let her have that :P).

Whee, snow!

A brand new sensor, so no one quite knows yet just how good/bad it is, but pre-production tests seem to indicate it's better at high ISO than the predecessors.

The weather-proofing is really what tempts me the most. True, the new K200D is also weather-proof (the only entry-level DSLR to have that) but if I was already to consider a new body, the K100D -> K200D jump would be a bit too insignificant. I'd prefer to go a step higher in that case. *sighs*

Are you taking any icky coughing syrup or leaving it to its own devices?

I took some ACC granules (the sort you mix into water or juice) the other day but have mostly been leaving it alone now. It doesn't seem to be too dry. I expect it will pass eventually.

Snow is very pretty. And we're getting more of it, yay!

Cameras are meant to come down in price when the next new ones are released, right? Or would you then be tempted by the new new ones?

Hope the coughing doesn't keep you up at night, and goes away soon.

*wants own snow*

Yeah... fortunately with DSLRs, they tend to have a couple of price reductions every few months or half a year, as the lifecycle is a bit longer than with pocket cameras - new models every 18-24 months instead of every six months or so.

I wish I remembered what the predecessor to the K20D cost when it first came out. Around the same, I think, and it's some 30% cheaper now.

There is always the temptation of newer ones! I think it'll largely depend on just how much mum is going to want a DSLR of her own.

The coughing has been kind to me at night. No problems with that at all.

I could send you a small box of snow but I fear it might melt on the way.

I understood 1% of your first paragraph. Tops.

LOL

I hate coughs. When I get one it sticks for like a month. Hope you feel better soon dear =)

Short version: pretty camera, me wants, costs money though.

*grins*

Coughs can be annoying like that, yes. I have more problems with dry ones - at least this one hasn't been very bad.

Have you tried Mucinex Maximum Strength? Works wonders for me...

Never heard of it! I suspect our selection here might be a bit different.

I'm relatively fine now though - seems to get a bit worse in the evenings, but I'm quite hopeful it'll pass on its own in a few days.

Damn them indeed! ;-j

I'm glad you're feeling better! Isn't the extended daylight wonderful? It makes me happy and hopeful, even if there are still huge piles of snow out the windows... Makes me think that spring will actually arrive at some point. Whee!

Daylight is wonderful. After four dark months, I'm really relishing the chance to come home from work when it's still relatively light outside!

Thanks! I hope so too. Coughing can get a bit tedious.
