Randomness + Doctor Who

Weeeee! I finally got around to watching The Time Meddler - one of the handful of existing Doctor Who stories I hadn't seen yet. I did plan to watch it last year, when I was going through the First Doctor's stories in order, but then the news came that it was about to be released on DVD, and I decided to wait. Of course, then the release was delayed by a year... *sighs*

I'd nearly forgotten just how much I love the First Doctor. (Not quite the same way as Three, but anyway.) He's so much fun in his irascible old man persona. And while I think I prefer Ian & Barbara as his companions, I didn't really mind Vicki & Steven either (although Steven was a bit obnoxious). And The Time Meddler was a fun story (never mind that the Saxons of 1066 looked quite 1960s...)

And I had a Musti on me the whole time. She's so lovely. And a bit heavy...

Unfortunately, I also went through a pile of tissues during the watching - so much of me being all pleased about not having any issues with the sneezing this time around. I seem to have acquired a terribly runny nose. And the fever's back - not quite to yesterday's levels, but not far from it. Ah well. Sweating again now - this is getting a bit tedious. If I'm still the same way tomorrow, the doctor will have to be called. (Although I'll be quite surprised if she did anything else than write a note, and perhaps recommend I take paracetamol, as that's what she's done before. And that's what I'm doing anyway. Heh.) Still, I don't seem to have trouble in my lungs or anywhere else, which is always a good thing. (I really do have quite a bit of experience with colds - at least I more or less know what to pay attention to... the trouble is that even the most common of colds seem to linger for me, I can never get over them in just a day or two. A week of having to stay in is quite usual and even two weeks not too out of the ordinary.)

I got to love the First Doctor a lot as well. The first time I saw him I didn't quite get him, and that was before I'd seen any other old Doctors. When I started watching more stories with him I started to enjoy them a lot. I really like Ian and Barbara - I haven't seen Vicki and Steven yet, but I no doubt will soon. Which reminds me - I should go ahead and place my Amazon order ...

I did a double take when I read Saxons though :-P

Hope you feel better soon! *hugs*

He does take a bit of getting used to - the later incarnations have in general been a whole lot more mellow.

You should get it soon, yes!

Thank you. I'm starting to have enough of being sick, too.

*hugs*

My nose has stopped running. But now I have a cough.

:-/

At least we can keep each other company!

*hugs too*

I also have a bit of a cough ... not much, but coupled with the already sore-ish throat, it's rather unpleasant when it does come. The runny nose is terribly inconvenient though!

I do hope it'll get better for you soon too!

I don't think I've ever watched any of the First Doctor - or at least, I can't remember it. I was always a massive fan of the Scarf Doctor, as we call him, but I can never remember what number he was...

The First Doctor - an old man with longish white hair and a sort of frock coat. Black and white era. :-D

The "Scarf Doctor" is Four. I suspect he's the best known, and I did like his first three seasons a lot (not the last four so much, with some exceptions).

When you're ill, you don't do things by half, don't you? stay in and take care of yourself. Think of all the Doctor goodness you'll be able to see or of the exchange fics you'll have time to reread.

Thank you. Staying in is what I plan to do - the weather (mostly rainy + windy and staying steadily around +3..+4°C) isn't exactly inviting for going out anyway.

I suspect re-reading anything will have to wait, but perhaps I can finally catch up with some of the WIPs I've been ignoring this year due to lack of time! Or take a look at the Potter Place challenges on TPP at last - I don't think I've read a single one yet.

Enjoy watching Doctor Who, and hope you get rid of that cold/fever soon - before a week, however unlikely that may be!

Thanks! I have two weeks' worth of Torchwood to watch, too... perhaps I ought to try and catch up with that as well now.

Throat's even more sore today, although eating/drinking seems to have helped a little.
