Went to the post office to get my Doctor Who: The Time Meddler DVD but ... we got there 14:53. Post office closes at 15:00 on Saturdays. Usually, this means that 3 pm is the time when the door is closed and people aren't let in any longer, but today ... well, let's say the cleaning lady guarding the door when we got there was NOT going to let anyone in any longer. She was quite furious. I think anyway, as she went on and on in Russian, so I'm not entirely sure what she was saying, but I think she said there were too many people inside already and we could just piss off.

*sighs*

So after fuming a bit, mum and I headed to Kadriorg instead, where there are some ice sculptures on display. Only for today, I suspect, as they were terribly busy melting.

It was very crowded, so taking good pics was somewhat complicated. Ah well, I'm glad I didn't bother dragging my big camera there. Especially as there were lots of people there with cameras and lenses much bigger than my dear Pentax. ;-)

There was also something going on for kids.

The armpit of the Venus de Milo sculpture. Busy melting. (Yay, I caught a drop as it was falling! Go me!)

Leftover ice on the ice cover of the pond.

I did take pics of other things than ice too, but they'll have to be left for another post.

I like the ice sculptures. Even if they were melting, seeing them makes me feel a bit cold somehow...

They were pretty. Ice tends to be a bit cool though!

Beautiful. And the "sweating" Venus of Milo amused me.

Thanks! She kept dripping. It was quite funny really.

Lovely pictures and lovely sculptures! The poor Venus de Milo must be terribly embarrassed to be seen sweating in public, though. ;-)

Thanks! They were rather nice, yes.

I've gathered they'll be taken to a cold storage place soon, just to make sure they won't melt immediately. I'm not envying the sculptors who had to work in well above-freezing temperature anyway - the sculptures were melting as they were being made!
