This and that

Yesterday was for some reason one of the most tiring days I've had in a while. I suppose the three hours of sleep had something to do with it, but in any case, I was feeling nearly dead most of the day - even had to leave work relatively early as I was just feeling awfully dizzy and had to focus more on trying to stay on the chair (as opposed to falling off it) than on the work.
Today was fortunately considerably better, although I'm again feeling wiped out, but that should be temporary. Getting a full night's sleep helped, as did the fact that I finally got done with the 52,000 word file I've been working with on and off for a few weeks now - I swear, there were times I thought it would never get done. I really dislike having to work with single files that are this large, as it's so damn hard to actually see the progress.
By the way, in case anyone had doubts, cats are not normal people. While cleaning out the closets, I found several single socks which I randomly tossed aside at the time, hoping to find the partners for them... so they ended up on the scanner. Which is also where Kribu ended up this morning - on the scanner, right on top of the bunch of socks. *rolls eyes*

Oh, and I actually remembered The Sarah Jane Adventures yesterday. I do have to say that I like it a whole lot more than Torchwood - probably because it's not trying to pretend it's, um, "adult", and doesn't seem to be taking itself too seriously. It's plain goofy fun as far as I'm concerned - not exactly the best thing evah!!!111 - but honestly, I can't find much to complain about either, considering its target group and what it seems to be set out to achieve.
I'm not horribly fond of the Slitheen (to put it mildly), but I guess it sort of made sense to kick the new show off with them. The kiddies would be familiar with them (and I suppose they might appeal more to kids than to adults) and they probably already had the suits/CGI/effects to use. Anyway, I wasn't too keen on them - and I'm still not - but actually they were rather campy fun in this first two-parter.
I like the kids in this show, which is a good thing. Even Clyde, the new addition, although he's a bit annoying - but far less so than the truly annoying kid they had in the pilot and have since dropped. I rather like Maria's father, although his purpose seems awfully obvious - to be Sarah Jane's flirting interest - but I guess it remains to be seen if something actually comes of that. What with Sarah Jane being all "there will never ever be anyone for me again, not after the Doctor!!" in the new Who-verse and all that (which is a bit, hm, I'm not sure I like the idea, but then again, if you've spent years travelling the universe with the Doctor - especially when you met him as Three ;-) - even just as best buddies, then settling down with a human man would probably seem a bit lame in comparison).
There is one thing I didn't quite like, but I suppose it's caused more by the format of the show than anything else and is sort of inevitable. With a show for a young audience, with three young teens as the main characters, they need to get to shine and show off too (to make the target audience pleased, I assume). Which means that the adult in the show, in this case Sarah Jane, will inevitably have to come off as a bit slow occasionally - not immediately figuring out solutions to not-that-difficult problems and all that, to give one of the kids a chance to come up with the solution.
Oh - and the Brig got mentioned! SQUEE!!! And UNIT!!!
Next time's preview looked quite intriguing, in any case. I have a hopeful feeling it might be even better than the Slitheen two-parter. And I think I should get some more Sarah Jane icons.

Kribu is a very organic part of your furniture.
