So Sochi was picked as the 2014 Winter Olympics host.
This is so weird. I mean, I know there are mountains and, presumably, snow there and all that... but it's a tropical resort as far as I'm concerned! Always will be one in my eyes.
It's the first place where I encountered palm trees as a kid. And it was hot. And the Black Sea was warm and mighty and wonderful. And the beaches were beautiful, although rocky (me being used to sandy ones). And it was... well, tropical (okay, subtropical, if we want to get into details).
The food was decent though. And there were hordes of tiny ants in the hotel room, mostly living in the fridge and eating all our cheese.
