As promised the other day... picspam! From, um, Wednesday, I think, when I got off work early and met mum for a short walk to / by the seaside. However, "early" is a relative concept and thus it still managed to get rather dark very quickly.

Pigeon.

Tree. With sunsettish light.

Moon.

Park avenue.

Sea, slightly iced.

Random person feeding swans.

Rubbish shot (too dark really for anything moving!), but I loved the expression on the gull's face.

Birdies.

View towards the harbour.

Park.

Lanterns.

A bonus winking Kribu.

And now the snow's mostly gone once again and it's raining and there's wind. Lots of wind. Blegh.

Wow, these are amazing! I can't believe that woman is feeding swans. They really are big. And the pigeon, the bird looks so soft. Unlike how I normally see them as. And I happen to love nighttime photos of moody parks and lamps.

Thanks for sharing as usual.

Have a good week. :)

Swans are big, yes! And there were quite a few people there hand-feeding them... and these aren't even anything close to tame swans, just the usual bunch that think we're south enough for their winter stay. :-D

Dark is lovely, but I can't wait for it to stay light a bit longer than until 3 pm or so. :-D

Awww - the Kribu was a nice warm cuddly at the end of those gorgeously cold shots!

Well done! :)

Beautiful. You're so talented. You should sell some of those! Get rich and famous.

Date: 11 January 2009 19:33 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com
Heh. I'd love to, except that no one wants to buy them. ;-)

Seriously, mum has been trying everything possible to sell some pics for years now, as the only thing she can do (and she's considerably better than I am, although she does nick some of my better ones too). Exhibitions, albums, single art online, calendars... no one buys anything. It's fairly depressing.

The second one, with the golden-brown tree behind the white-lined black trees, is pure magic. We wants it, precious.

And the puddle picture with the reflections in it that you showed us a few weeks ago. I said I wanted that one then.

I mean - WOW, dude.

*winks back at Kribu*

It was wonderful, the way the light played with the trees - most of them all stark black and white, and then a reddish/golden one here and there.

Damn, Kribu, these are fabulous! If I get around to painting again, may I work from the top one?

That one actually isn't my favorite, though. I'm not sure I have a favorite. I love the second one for the textures and colors, the avenue one because it's beautifully composed and is a perfect tourism shot, the sunset ones because I'm a sucker for sunsets and the lantern because... it's cool.

Thank you for sharing!

Go ahead!

I know how hard it can be to pick! I'm usually having a really hard time deciding what to post, as I can get a bit trigger-happy and like most of them...

Did you take those with the new lens? Because there's something different in them. They are simply gorgeous.

Date: 11 January 2009 20:36 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com
Yes, I did. It's visible, isn't it? It's the sort of thing one can't really quite put their finger on, but there is a difference in how the lens captures the light, and the smoothness and the sharpness and all those things.

Although I think the low-sun-to-set-sun light helped a lot with those too - it was an afternoon with unusually beautiful light.

Wow hon. You are good. You have a talent for picking out a good shot and knowing how to capture it. I see shots all the time that would be amazing, but no camera. I'm thinking of taking a photography class. If I don't do that I atleast need to get a camera. Love your pics so very much.

Thank you!

I have begun to "see" so much more since I started taking pictures. It's just wonderful, even when I don't have a camera with me.

You should absolutely get a camera! Photography class sounds fun, too, although in this day and age it's probably possible to learn quite a bit without it, unless you're considering something specialised (using studio flashes or what not) - I've learned everything on my own.

Not that I know much beyond the basics - I tend to stay on P(rogrammed Auto) mode 99% of the time and only go manual when P doesn't quite cut it. *hugs smart cameras that can figure things out on their own*
