First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
lady_karelia!
It's been confirmed that we're going to have Frontier in Space/Planet of the Daleks out this year, as a double pack. SQUEEEE!!
I know a lot of people shun both of those, but they're among my very favourite Three stories, being such fun adventures, both of them. Frontier's jailed-escaped-jailed-escaped-jailed-escaped-jailed-escaped (and possibly etc) is just so giggleworthy, and while I'm dreadfully sad this was Delgado!Master's last story, he's absolutely wonderful in it. And Planet's just a perfect Dalek story.
And they've re-coloured Planet episode 3!!!!! (Ahem. Please excuse all the exclamation marks.) I mean, black and white is fine too, but it was a rather colourful story and I'm really pleased it'll all be in colour again. Also, if doing this was considered financially feasible, I suppose there's hope for Invasion of the Dinosaurs episode 1 to be re-coloured, too. I have my doubts about Mind of Evil - it's one thing to re-colour one episode out of six and another to re-colour a six episode story from scratch - and Ambassadors of Death, which would need it the most, may well be too large of an undertaking, too, but... it's a start, and whether it gets a follow-up or not, we'll still have that.
Anyway, while I'd have hoped that this will finally be a year for some Three catch-up, and it doesn't seem likely we'll get more than those two, it's still awesome. I've been looking forward to those two on DVD. And then maybe 2010 will be the catch-up year. I mean, after Frontier&Planet, there will be 11 Three stories out and 13 left, the same amount of Four that will be left after the ones already announced. Even though Three only had 24 stories and Four had 42 to begin with... Ack. It's not that I grudge Four fans them getting 4-5-8 stories released a year, but please, can we have some other Doctors on DVD, too? Especially Three?
Oh, and there'll be War Games out, too. Not my most favourite Two story, but I'm so looking forward to seeing it all cleaned up and restored.
Earlier start at work today. Hmpf. Training. I don't really like training. But I suppose it'll be good to have.
