Nicked from [livejournal.com profile] harmony_bites. And while I'm generally wary of asking for prompts with a promise to actually write something, I am determined to manage this time. ;-)

To the first ten people who comment, I will write a drabble. (Well, I promise at least a drabble; I won't promise not to write a ficlet if I can't manage a drabble.)

You must give me:
* a fandom option: in my case, Harry Potter (for this challenge only, I'm going to say I'm open to trying also other than SS/HG), Doctor Who (no Eight or audio/book companions, please, as I haven't read any EDAs or listened to any audios), and Babylon 5.
* a character (for genfic) or a pairing (if you want a little romance)
* a keyword to use in the drabble or a color or other prompt.

In return, you must post this meme yourself and take on the first 10 requests.

I don't know Who or Babylon 5, so HP it will be. And because Ron doesn't get enough love among my f-listers...

Ron/Pansy (I'm not so cruel to ask for R/Hr)
Spider

A Chance Encounter

Hm, this was certainly a different request! :-D

Here we go then...

* * *

Ron stood frozen on the stairs. Only two steps below, the palm-sized baby spider was leisurely making its way towards him.

He couldn’t move even when he heard a familiar voice cry out behind him: ‘Oh! Look, Sally, doesn't it look tasty?’ He could only wonder whether it referred to him or the spider.

When Pansy Parkinson stepped into his view and lowered her pet snake to the spider, waiting patiently for her to swallow the demon beast, Ron finally found his breath again.

‘Thank you,’ he muttered.

Pansy raised an eyebrow, following it with a small smile. ‘Any time.’

Bwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaa. That it is! Different. Loved it though!

See, this is what the ship needs to do. Don't bash the poor boy--give him a Slytherin of his own *wink*

Ahh, but it's so much more fun to bash him... ;-)

Although giving him a Slytherin of his own certainly isn't a bad idea. After all, we know that in canon, Pansy didn't end up with Draco, so why not!

And if you want to work with the epilogue--well...

1) Slytherin girls are smart too mostly (cunning)

2) Would turn the banter about Slytherins from Ron from bigotry to teasing.

3) Not illogical to name the daughter of a Pansy Rose...

Three very good points! It's practically canon-compliant, yes.

Linked by [livejournal.com profile] harmony_bites because Ron/Pansy is my not-entirely-secret second OTP...

I love this—you say so much with tiny gestures and this line is wonderful:

He could only wonder whether it referred to him or the spider.

Thank you! I'm very glad it worked, considering I've never tried to do anything with Pansy at all.

Go ahead! Plenty of prompt slots left. :-D

HP, because I don't know the other two fandoms... Draco/Luna, morning dew.

Morning after Moonlight

Ooooh. A proper challenge - two characters I've never even mentioned in passing before. :-D

So here we go...

* * *

‘Are you sure you don’t want to come inside? There’s breakfast!’

Draco was standing at the door, facing the wide meadow that had convinced his wife to move to Malfoy Manor. There was only the merest hint of impatience in his voice, even after spending the whole night outside, looking for – well, whatever it was they’d been looking for.

Luna turned towards him, shoes dangling from her fingers, radiating the serene joy that had caught Draco’s eye well before he’d dared let anyone know.

‘Why don’t you come and join me instead?’ she called back. ‘The dew is so refreshing.’

There's a reason why I avoid writing Luna usually - it's too hard to avoid going for the usual clichés with her. It's very hard to find a good balance there!

I do love her though--but I agree--she's hard to nail down.

Ooooooh... Lovely. It's not a ship I think I've ever read before—just two characters I love—and you've meshed them nicely.

Do you mind if I friend you?

I'm so very strictly a SSHG shipper that I'm quite sure I've not read them before! Although I think Shug had them as a background couple in an Exchange story once...

Absolutely not, go ahead! Friending back if that's okay!

I dabble in other ships to keep things interesting, but this isn't one I've ever stumbled into. Thank you again!

I think I'm a bit obsessed now, lol.

Erm....

Snape genfic (I've never really had that before actually)

Me neither, really! It was a challenge to avoid turning this into SSHG, as the prompt word seemed to be begging for that. :-D

* * *

Severus Snape was a light sleeper. Always had been. Thus when the tiniest golden beam of sunlight peeped through the crack in the curtains, found his nose and slid curiously over the large appendage, he opened his eyes nearly instantly.

Once upon a time, his first instinct would have been to growl and curse at that harbinger of yet another day.

But not any more.

Three years since that fateful day – the day he thought his life would end on the dirty floor of the Shrieking Shack. Three glorious years of freedom. Of life.

Throwing the covers aside, Severus smiled.

I'm glad it did! It's shockingly difficult to write gen, it appears.

"saves drabble"

I definitely know what you mean...but I think you did a great job of giving Snape, just Snape, 100 words.

It was very happy (love the nose description, it was gorgeous) and this is what canon is to me.

He may be fictional but his meaning certainly isn't!

I'm so glad you liked this!

Sometimes getting something into 100 words is really very hard. I very much enjoyed the challenge, though!
