Went out for a bit on Sunday - as usual in the winter, didn't make it to town while there was still daylight, but did catch a bit of the sunset. And stuff.

All taken with the compact, as I obviously didn't have my DSLR back yet. Or the new lens yet.

Frosty leaf on asphalt.

Frosty manhole cover.

Sunset over the sea through a busstop wall.

Sunset over the town.

Frosty bench.

Frosty bench, take 2.

Can stay home tomorrow but I do have work to do - translating an article with instructions on photographing nudes. So far, I've learned that one should rent a studio as inviting the model home does not appear professional, and if the model has a thick waist but shapely legs, one should isolate the legs and do abstracts. Or something.

You have a wonderful way of creating abstracts out of the most ordinary things. The bus stop sunset is tremendous.

Once one has taken pics of all the obvious things, it becomes necessary to look for the less obvious ones...

Thank you so much for the praise. :-D

I love the sunset over the town as an instant eye pleasure. But the sunset over the sea through the bus stop wall is truly inspiring. It invites staring at it and getting lost in thoughts. Thanks for sharing those!

I think I caught it just at the right time, when the light was perfect.

I'm glad you liked them!

Lovely pics. (Aww, I miss Tallinn!)

Good luck with that translation! :D

Thank you!

Tallinn is lovely this time of the year too, yes. Just a bit muddy and cold. :-D

God, I love your photos. All of them are fantastic and, I can't believe I'm going to say this, the sunset isn't my favorite. I'mn a sucker for sunset pis, but the other ones are so fascinating and, well, good.

The bus wall pic reminds me of a painting I envisioned last night. Should go sketch that out now.

I know what you mean - the sunset's lovely, but a bit ordinary. :-D I loved the waves there, though.

Ooh, that painting idea sounds fascinating.

You always take the most beautiful photographs. I love the colors in the two of the sunset, but the one that meserized me was the manhole cover with its tightly integrated ice crystals arranged in such a way that the numbers seemed to fairly pop off the page.

Marvelous! Thanks for posting these.

It's amazing what a cold night can do! We've had very little snow this winter so far, but the frosty mornings / days almost make up for it.

I love winter.

Thank you!

Winter is a wonderful season. At least when there's snow. Or even frost. Anything but mud...

Pretty, pretty pics!

Even if they do make me shiver.

I just keep staring at the second bench pic. It's very intriguing and if you hadn't captioned it, I'd still be wondering what it was. All great pics, though.

I'm a little worried that once my knees get too dodgy, taking pictures from such angles won't be as easy any more!

Thank you.

Wonderful. As always. And I love how you choose familiar objects and cast them at unfamiliar angles and perspectives. Very beautiful.

It's all about making due with what little you have... there's not that much choice of the more obvious objects around here. I did love that bench though, it caught my eye immediately!

I second what Dicky said - I love the way you create abstract art out of things. You have a great eye. The Frosty Bench 1 is a fave.

Thank you! It's one thing that really makes me happy about having got into photography - seeing a lot more than I used to. Even when I don't have a camera with me.
