Still not wanted in the office, yay!
Considering the amounts of work they keep sending me home, I have a feeling they don't expect to see me back in the office for another week at least. Got another 16,000 words or so, yes, plus some smaller things. Heh. Oh well, at least I already did half the other big thingy today.
I actually managed to listen to some audio stuff today... a full episode of The Sea Devils, yay! It's a bit weird, what with half of it being just narration covering what we should be seeing but aren't, due to the lacking image... but it's not really bad at all. I'd nearly forgotten how charming the Doctor was in it (well, and a git, but those two things go together, really). I do so want it on DVD sooner rather than later. The Doctor and the Master at their finest... plus the fabulous swordfight, which I doubt will have quite the same impact on the audio version. Or the Doctor nicking Jo's sandwiches.
And I'm a little puzzled about what to think of Torchwood's latest episode, Countrycide. On the one hand, horror's not my favourite genre (to put it mildly), so I wasn't exactly enthralled by it... on the other hand, it was actually scary and disturbing instead of being just stupid. Gwen and Owen continue being the two actually interesting characters, and it was good to see Toshiko get something to do at last. Ianto's still a bit rubbish though, isn't he? And Jack continues being mostly unpleasant (and I really don't think they should make Barrowman do anger, it looks a bit ridiculous).
I'm still looking forward to Sarah Jane Adventures as my last hope of fully enjoyable new Who. I keep reading at OG and elsewhere that it might premiere on New Year's Day already, which isn't that far away, woo-hoo! Of course, it's possible that it will suck terribly, but at least it won't be "adult" and Sarah Jane rocks, so I still have some hopes. :-)

I'm really looking forward to the Sarah Jane Adventures. At this point I'd rather have "a bit childish" than "adult". And New Year's Day would seriously rock :-D

(the "would you like a small prick" line made me laugh out loud)
Me too. *blushes with embarrassment* When not expecting more from this show, bits like this (as adolescent as they are) can actually be quite funny... especially as with this episode, some jokes helped.
I am really not keen on the horror stuff and it got a bit too unpleasant/disturbing for me a few times, but I do think it helped that I don't have any experience with the horror genre (i.e. didn't recognise all the things that the episode had ripped off ;-)), as I could almost appreciate it. And I do think most of it was actually not bad, especially the first half an hour, when the crazy countryside people hadn't actually been shown yet.
(And I need a better Torchwood icon than this one, really... Jack's not really doing it for me in this show. I like your Sarah Jane pic... I should make myself some too from School Reunion if Sendit ever gets their act together and ships my series 2 set!)

LOL. Same here. I've never really liked horror much, and I haven't seen much either.
I know what you mean about Jack - which is really a pity, because I liked him in Doctor Who, and I like John Barrowman as a person, but he's just not all that convincing in Torchwood (though he was a bit better last week I thought.

Thanks! It's a beautifully lit scene - good for icons! I should make some more when my dvd set arrives (though I first need to make some old Who icons ... I'm serisouly lacking those :-))
