Meme + picspam

Have been having a rather eventless holiday weekend so far. Did some work on Saturday and yesterday, should do a bit today too - raining quite heavily, so not much else to do anyway. I am thinking it's better to do a bit of work every day instead of lazing around doing nothing for a few days and then exhausting myself trying to catch up.

Am starting to give up on hope of ever writing something creative again. Perhaps if a period with less work comes around again, but as things stand now, that's not very likely for at least another year. Work's just completely sapped me of any creative thought I might occasionally have had. A pity, but what can one do?

[livejournal.com profile] phistolemon_ tagged me for the "what's in your bag" meme, so here it is. Very boring, I'm afraid, but this gave me a good reason to clean out some of the trash in the bag and to test the new 30mm lens, too.

Wallet, shopping bag, a small plastic bag, two packets of tissues, second pair of glasses with holder, old store receipt (thrown away now), a few loose tissues, a camera (currently Pentax Optio W10, which I found again and dusted off and threw in the bag as the carry-with camera), two packets of ACC cough medicine drink (left over from winter), small scissors, pen, lip balm, toothpick, Ibuprofen, Orbit drops, keys, one Marianne sweet, one loose Orbit drop, memory stick, a piece of cardboard with phone numbers of main taxi companies in case I'm out and need to call a taxi.

The bag itself can be seen here (Caterpillar backpack, yellow + black). I am not a handbag person and a backpack is useful whether I am carrying my big camera around or whether I need to do grocery shopping.

Tagging... whoever wants to put the contents of their bag on display.

Went out yesterday - visited grandma's grave at the cemetery and took a short walk at Pirita afterwards, from the river to a supermarket and then home. As I had the small Pentax in my bag, there is also some random picspam.

The Pirita river in the sun and under the bridge.

Some chairs outside by a café.

Boat and river reflections on the side of a boat.

The obligatory bumblebee.

Mayweed. I think.

Burdock.

Generic Pirita river view.

Trees in the bus stop.

Bus stop reflections.

It's odd how I don't even remember having the W10 for half a year and then it's summer and lots of light outdoors and I fall in love with that little camera all over again. Of course, the recently announced W60 is even more appealing with its even higher levels of waterproofness and ruggedness and more zoom... argh, must stop desiring more cameras. *slaps self*

Lovely pictures, as always! The bumble bee is buetiful, so crisp and clear. What camera did you take that with? (a pentax, but which model?)

I'm after Mr GS to get a zoom lens for our camera as an anniversary present, but I'm not sure it's working. LOL

Thanks! And all the pictures apart from the junk-from-my-bag one are with the Pentax Optio W10 (can be seen on the junk-from-my-bag one) - small, unassuming, useless in low light, a few generations old by now, but waterproof and actually really nice in good light outdoors. Very much a summer camera, with which one doesn't need to worry about it getting wet.

Heh! You need to try and find good reasons for it. :-D What camera do you have / what sort of lens are you wanting?

[identity profile] geminiscorp.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
We have a Canon EOS Rebel-XT. It's a few years old but I've really only begun to play with it recently. I'm not sure what lens I want (I usually leave that kind of research for Mr GS) but I do want to be able to take better pictures of the boys playing sports. Of course I also want it to play around with but the sports excuse may actually get me one. =D

I also want to get a decent pocket camera to carry around with me. I miss so many things because to lug around the other camera is just to much work (and worry) most of the time.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, yeah, sports needs more reach than kit lenses tend to have! And preferably faster lenses... which are heavy and bloody expensive. If it's mostly daytime outdoor sports, it shouldn't be too big an expense for a very worthy cause, though.

I know what you mean about too much work and worry. I take the DSLR when going out specifically for a walk (or a trip) where taking pics is going to be a big part of the outing, but I wouldn't really just drop it in the bag on a normal work day or when going out shopping, etc. Too bad there isn't really a "perfect" pocket camera out there! They all seem to have some good sides and some rather annoying bad sides.

Oddly, or not oddly, I really adore the chairs. But then, your pics are always great! XD

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe! Thanks. The chairs looked very inviting (for taking a picture, not so much for sitting on them), so I really couldn't resist.

I hope you don't mind I nicked a pic for an icon. I credited you on my userpic page, and you are welcome to use it, as well. The photographs are gorgeous!

Nick away, I don't mind!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked them. :-D

I am always amazed at your pictures.

Thanks! I'm fortunate enough to have plenty to take pictures of.

Oh, I'm sure the creative juices are somewhere, hidden behind (or under) the workload. They'll come out eventually.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I wish I could be as sure. One can but hope!

yay you did the meme :D *steals one of your drops*

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Amazingly, I remembered. :-D

There was less in there than I thought though. Although come to think of it, I think I threw out some random trash not that long ago.

[identity profile] ayerf.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty pictures! Very nice bumblebee.

I hope the plot bunnies do come back one day.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! The bumblebee was a lucky shot as I was just taking a pic of the clover when it arrived and sat down on it.

Yes, well. Maybe next year.

Hugs on the writing thing! I was talking about that just a few weeks ago, so I know how you feel. I imagine it will come back. Maybe sign up for something with a deadline?

Great photos! I esp love the Burdock.

[identity profile] kribu.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
With the plot bunnies being gone quite entirely and the block back at full strength, I don't think signing up for anything would be a good idea, really. I don't even want to ask for prompts without strings attached, as when I've done it, I've not got a single idea, not even for a drabble, never mind anything else.

It's rather annoying, as I was half-considering the SSHG exchange, whenever the next round comes up, but now... I rather doubt I would want to sign up!

Thanks. It was a rather lovely day for pics, even with a very short walk.
