Good thing about holidays being over and being back at work again: am not feeling so entirely apathetic any more.
Bad thing about holidays being over and being back at work again: am feeling quite, quite dead.

The week's been tougher than I expected, somehow, although there's not really been anything particularly nasty to do. Just... this current project, of which we've now started stage two, is so very exhausting. Although as I got some 65,000 words of something else today, I'll spend the next few weeks doing that. Eugh. Expect whining (provided I'm not too dead to whine).

Had to do grocery shopping today so met mum in town after work and walked around a bit first - she brought my camera along as well, but I wasn't really feeling inspired. Ah well, got a few pics anyway. Click for bigger versions.

Found a sparrow in some bushes.

Random view from Musumägi over Pärnu maantee.

A bit of the town wall.

Random door in the town wall / Hellemanni tower. Some sort of exhibition in there, I think.

Entrance to the Katariina passage.

Katariina passage, view upwards. I do like that cat on the chimney there.

Viru gates. I'd forgotten there was a white lilac there. *headdesk*

A random window.

I wanted to see how many pics the new camera battery is good for on one charge but as I might go out for a walk tomorrow, decided not to risk it and put it charging now... have taken just under 1000 pics so far and it started showing battery low indicator some 100 pics ago. Can count on about a thousand shots per charge then, I suppose.

Might also go and see Indiana Jones tomorrow, depending on whether I'll manage to get up early enough to wash my hair. Hmmm.

I'm working on the lilac. Does the Katariina passage lead anywhere near the Viru gates? And am I right in thinking the Viru gates open somewhere not too far from the docks? In other words, can I have someone go through the Katariina passage, go past the lilac, and then walk to a dock, or would that be a stupid way to make your way from one place to another?

Hmm. Everything is relative! The Katariina passage is relatively close to the gate - five minutes' walk, perhaps. The Viru gate is not very close to the port though - but it's certainly one way to take if one wants to get to the port (depends on which way one prefers).

I took a screenshot of the relevant area on the Tallinn map and marked a few places so you can decide for yourself: here (http://pics.livejournal.com/kribu/pic/000rpq1s). The Viru gate (Viru värav) is in a red circle in the lower left hand corner, Katariina passage is roughly corresponding to the red line between Vene 10 and Hellemanni torn, the green line is Müürivahe street (Katariina passage opens to it) which leads to Viru street. (I also circled the Town Hall - Tallinna Raekoda - for reference.)

The port - Sadam, in red circle - is in the upper right (fairly large area; mostly the passenger harbour though). Depending on where one wants to end up, it'd make sense to either go along Vene and/or Pikk street to Paks Margareeta and cross to the harbour area from there, or to go along Viru to Mere pst and turn to the harbour from there, etc - basically it doesn't matter much. Whichever way one prefers, it's not very close but certainly within reasonable walking distance.
