Thanks! The pain is all gone by now (still a bit of tenderness left - not really pain but an awareness that there's something tender there) and I think the bleeding's stopped now, too.
So I'm feeling reasonably good, although after waking up today, I do really rather wish I could brush my teeth properly already! (i.e. not just very gently on one side and with nothing but water.)
The dentist didn't specify which ice cream... had mint&chocolate at home. Which was good. The other kind we had at home has caramelised nut pieces in it, so probably not the best choice yet. Should get more ice cream...
I would guess wisdom teeth are both harder and easier to deal with at the same time... harder to extract, possibly more prone to problems, but on the other hand, the empty place will be in the very back, which should make resuming normal life (like eating and brushing teeth) easier.
Mine is/was the first of the big lower molars (there's another tooth behind it and the spot for the one wisdom tooth that has never come out), so it's a big empty spot right in the place I mostly used for chewing. Which means that even if it seems to be healing well by now, I'll still need to be extra careful for a couple of weeks to avoid any chance of ruining the newly formed blood clot.
But I think I can deal with being careful - as long as it's not hurting, it shouldn't ruin the holidays (which I planned to spend at home relaxing anyway).
