On my way to work today, my, um, foot seems to have slipped. So I quite accidentally landed in the camera store which is right beside us. And, uh... somehow I was given the Pentax K20D to play with, and it turned out to be not nearly as much larger and heavier than the K100D as I'd feared, and... um. Do I need to tell the rest? ;-)

Thing is that mum told me this morning that she'd even be willing to buy my K100D from me. So it appears that she really is serious about wanting a DSLR. Which sort of would have meant that I'd have been left quite DSLR-less. And there really didn't seem to be any point (apart from the price) to buy another K100D, or its successor K200D, or K10D (the predecessor to K20D) for that matter, so I decided to go for the biggest and bestest that Pentax has got.

Also, as an excuse, while I got another tooth fixed this morning (nothing awful this time, although I suspect there may be tenderness once the anaesthetics wear off as there was quite a bit of blood around), I also got told that next time (in two weeks, eek) I'll get the one quite irreparable molar pulled out. So I'll need comforting. Lots and lots of comforting. I am thinking a new shiny camera will help. Can't hurt at least.

Right. Should start working now, I suspect, as all that money I've just spent will need to be regained.

Oh, dear - poor you. I do hope your foot is feeling better....

So we're going to be treated to lots and lots of picspam. Please?!

The main thing keeping me back from posting more now is my own laziness. ;-) Still have far too many pics from various walks that I'd like to post, if I ever got around to it!

It will probably take a bit of getting used to, the new camera. It's not much bigger and bulkier than the old one, but it is a bit (and I think the grip is pretty much the largest I could comfortably hold - no pro career for me, not unless I grow bigger hands!), and it's definitely quite a bit more advanced. More buttons and dials and stuff... will need to figure out what they're all good for!

The foot is surprisingly good, thank you. *would whistle innocently, if half her mouth wasn't a bit numb still*

Accidentally on purpose, huh? Nice camera, I presume? Suitable for taking lots and lots of pics of cats and other pretty things?

*is still ever hopeful*

Just make sure your mum doesn't nick this one too...

Erm. Comforting with the tooth pulling... does that mean you'll accidentally on purpose get another camera? Or is the one you've just got a preemptive comfort?

Considering it's a £700 / €1000 body camera, it should better be nice! Can see at home how it works, then, although I suspect it might want its battery charged first.

Didn't get a lens as I've got a nice selection at home. I do suspect that mum will want to keep the 18-250mm universal zoom on what can probably be considered her camera now, so I'll have to figure out what to put on mine to use most of the time.

I did want a macro lens, really, but after today, I suspect I won't want to spend more on camera stuff for a few months. *sniffles*

I was thinking preemptive comfort. No more cameras for now. Lenses, on the other hand...

omg the jealousy xD
I'd really like to have such a camera as well,
but I'm fidgeting with my little kodak v1003 instead.
it's not a bad camera, but still.. nothing like that pentax *shiny eyes*

Hee! I know how you feel... the way I felt until getting my Pentax K100D a couple of years ago, when I finally decided to take the plunge. :-D

The world of DSLRs is a bottomless pit though as far as spending money goes. *sighs* I've got two bodies now and six lenses, and I keep thinking of new lenses I "need". And I still would like an external flash. *sighs some more*

Bwahaha your foot slipped my eye! But given your circumstances, I'd say you can offer you some comfort ;)

You know how these things are... you pass a store and your feet just sort of slide inside. Completely accidentally!

Thank you. I think I'll agree. ;-)

There's nothing like a new gadget to provide comfort. Retail therapy rules. It is a very nice looking camera with great features. Enjoy.

You're so right about new gadgets, especially when one is a gadget lover like me! I hope it'll be enjoyable. :-D

Yay! Shiny!

*hugs* You definitely need a new toy to cheer you up after undergoing more tooth torture!

There will always be new torture. *sighs*

Although I think not much in the immediate future after that one tooth gets pulled out. Will need a recovery period...

Careful with the slippage ... Wouldn't want to sprain anything on the way to and from the shinies. ;D

Definitely sounds like you deserve a treat, too! Hope you don't hear a peep from any ouchies even with the tenderness. (And I'm already wincing in sympathy re: the molar.)

No, wouldn't want to fall over and drop the shinies!

Thanks. The tooth's feeling a bit better already. Should be fine by morning. I'm so not looking forward to the next visit though... not sure if it's a good or a bad thing that it will be on the day before I get two weeks holiday. At least it'll give me recovery time.

Sounds like you definitely need comforting. The dentist, ugh.
And we get pretty pics from it! *grins*

I suspect that in two weeks, I will want to take all the comforting I can possibly get. ;-) Having a new toy to play with should help!
