Got the blower for the camera yesterday and just attempted cleaning the sensor.

The bad news is that there is still an annoying small spot of dust left, which I couldn't get rid of even after several attempts, so I am forced to assume it's stuck and no amount of blowing will get rid of it. And I'm really not feeling secure enough to actually attempt any contact cleaning - my hands were shaking badly as it was even with the blowing, which I know is as safe as it gets. I did get a more advanced CCD sensor cleaning kit as well, but seriously, with this sort of shakiness, I'd better not use it - the risks are probably not worth it (and it voids the warranty, as using the blower is the only thing the user is authorised to do on his/her own).

The good news is that it seems I got rid of the much larger spot of dust, which was the one that prompted me to do the cleaning in the first place. That smaller one I hadn't even noticed myself (until now, and now that I know it's there, I do see it on pictures and it's annoying, but not nearly as bad as the other one was). At least I can't see the large one on any test pics, so I assume it's gone.

I suppose I'll just try to live with the small one for now, and perhaps try blowing the dust off now and then again - maybe it'll get unstuck at some point. If it really starts bothering me, I can always take the camera in for professional cleaning.

In other bad news, the speakers I got for mum's computer sound completely horrid (hm, was to be expected I guess from cheap ones, but one could always hope!). I'm hoping they'll take them back - they should, anyway, if the relevant laws regarding buying things over the Internet (i.e. without a chance to test things in the store) are to be believed.

In other better news, I got a call from the optometry store yesterday and they told me they've ordered a new lens to replace the chipped one. It'll take a few weeks of course, but as they didn't mention anything about it being my fault or anything about money, I think it's safe to assume they won't actually be trying to make me take the blame for their mistake.
