I don't tend to blame people if I pick something up because someone else loved it and I end up disliking it. *g* But yeah, I know what you mean. Even when I've tried hard to not actually recommend something myself but have just expressed my liking for a fic or a book, and that has caused someone else to pick it up, I get worried that they may end up hating it and then I'd feel bad about it, too!

I feel bad for the author, too. I certainly don't think Chloe Neill is the worst author ever, or the one with the worst writing skills ever - it's just that for a traditionally published book, as a reader I'm used to getting a more polished final product.
