Weekend. At last. A long one, at that - Monday and Tuesday are off due to being national holidays.
Which also means that it's two days lost as far as work goes... meaning that yes, I had to take work home, because I really don't want to find that oops, it's deadline day and I'm still sitting on a few dozen files to translate. Even did a bit today - not too much, but then, it is Saturday, and doing a few files is better than none.
I have also got around to attaching the new macro lens to the camera and trying it out. Only at home as I haven't managed to drag myself out yet (the weather hasn't helped - nice and sunny right now, but was raining most of the day; although since I wrote this sentence, it's started to rain again - even though it's still nice and sunny across the street). Which creates two main problems: lack of light, indoors, is always an issue (so almost anything is shot at ISO1600), and the lens, being 90mm, is a bit too long for non-macro use indoors, although it seems eminently capable for it otherwise.
Shooting with a medium tele prime is an interesting challenge - one I should try more often, as zooms tend to make one lazy. It's always a bit odd to adjust to a prime though, as my hand keeps wanting to zoom. Heh.
Utterly random picspam, as my choices of subjects were very limited.

My very first shot with the new lens. Note to self: round, soft-skinned apricots in low light are perhaps not the best object for focusing. But the softness actually seems to suit this pic.

Random potted plant leaf.

The lens is definitely suitable for normal pics, too.

Note to self: with the lens wide open, depth of field is really very shallow at this focal length at close distances.

Didn't really get time to focus properly here, but I loved Pätsu's look. There was a pigeon outside she was looking at.

Kribu was sitting randomly on the floor, so I asked her to look at me. She obliged.

Sharpness test: Pätsu's nose.

Found an old dusty dried rose.

Shadows.

Mum's hand with her Fuji.
Teeth are feeling awkward. It feels as if quite a bit of the temporary filling I got on Tuesday has worn off already, and I've been quite careful with it... not chewing much with it, not using force when brushing teeth, and all that. I don't think it's going to last until October - at this rate I'll be glad if it survives the holiday weekend. Which means I've been trying to eat with the other side now - the one where the ex-tooth was still six weeks ago - and it's making the gums on that side a bit sore. I assume it's just a matter of getting used to it, though. But I do dearly wish I wouldn't need to have these constant teeth issues now... ah well. Porridge and soup are good.
Hands still not the best, so I should probably relocate to the sofa. Football soon, anyway.
